Most of my clients prefer complete privacy, so although I have multiple projects in progress as of January 2022, the examples here are from an earlier Family Picture Archive project.

The girth and timespan of the Williams family archive books suggest their encyclopedic bent. Other client projects are divided into yearly volumes narrating everyday activities, special moments, and vacation travel. Books are designed to complement individual client style and aesthetic. Some finished books are neatly shelved, while others live on coffee tables and are paged through regularly and handwritten in to personalize them further. Special sections and blank pages are sometimes included for added personalized affects such as children’s drawings, notes, or stories. Several books have more than 1000 images with page counts of 300+.

Every photograph is technically tweaked for the highest quality results when printed.

Whether the style is formal, or casual, the results are heartfelt, and based on client feedback, the books are greatly enjoyed. As visual records, Family Picture Archives have great meaning to the clients for whom they’re being created, and that will continue being true for future generations of their families as well.

Rita Baker | family memory book

The Williams Family Archive started with about 5000 photos taken over a 30 year span that were edited down to about 3500, then divided into 5 books, each ranging from 200-350 pages. (Above, left) A section opener. (Above, right) If several photos were taken, most were used to expand on that memory. (Below, left) A family tree visual schematic is soon the opening pages of each 5 year volume. (Below, right) On the back cover, a timeline highlights events that occurred over the span of years the book covered.

(Below) An in-progress archive. This edition began with 2004, and we’re up to 2017.
